Lyft and Aptiv were operating self-driving taxis in Las Vegas during CES. Their tour duty is extending further, according to Fortune. The Aptiv CEO Glen De Vos at a Detroit Auto Show said that the semi-autonomous BMWs would keep running around the city to pick and drop the passengers. Although, the annual electronic show ended up on January 12th.

Future Plans

It is more interesting that the two companies are planning to bring self-driving cars to other markets as well. Coming to the other markets in future would take some time though. Lyft is also working on a self-driving pilot in Boston with NuTonomy, a subsidiary of Aptiv.

Performance During CES

During the CES, Lyft and Aptiv robot taxis have provided more than 400 rides to the passengers. The travel was done to 20 or so pre-programmed destinations. Out of 5 stars, the trips earned 4.997 stars on average, whereas 99 percent miles were covered entirely autonomously.
