All the app store affiliate members have been notified with an email about the cut down of the commission charges from 7% to 2.5%. It is a drastic and change almost 64%. This will be implemented from 1st May.With a unique member referral ID, the Apple community connects people with different apps. When the users purchase any app or makes in-app purchases, the developers get the 70% profit. Whereas, the other partners get incentivized.
The affiliate commission can be just cents if an app is about 1$. But you can get a serious amount of profits, if you do have a great number of audiences. So the case now for the websites has gone worse as the affiliate profits have been minimized.
Apple Needs to Re-consider the Cut Down:
The developers will get the benefits, but those websites which bring audiences to the app store, where would they go? It is a big sit back for them. And it will make a lot of websites to think deeply about this matter, where their incentive is being minimized. Apple seriously needs to think about this decision and not put down the efforts of the website which are bringing audiences through the referral link to the iTunes Store.
