Mercedes-Benz will electrify its entire car lineup by 2022

Mercedes Benz ha announced that it will be electrifying all its cars by 2022. It is the latest automaker to embrace the electrification in its cars. Everyone should get used to it now, as it’s predicted that most of the car makers would be making the same kind of announcements in coming future. The recent reason behind this, is the complete ban from China on the production and sale of fossil fuel vehicles.

What’s the Deal?

The chief of the Mercedes Benz, Dieter Zetsche said that they will be offering either hybrid or completely electric versions of all their vehicles by 2022. By that time, the company will be adding a minimum total of 50 new electric model options. Smart, is another Daimler-owned sub brand that will be going fully electric by 2020.

Excellent Deal for Mercedes-Bez:

This certainly is an excellent deal and step for the Mercedes-Benz and will put it in the list of good companies along with manufacturers like Volvo and Ford’s Lincoln Luxury. Volvo vehicles will become completely electrified till 2019. Whereas, the Ford’s Lincoln Luxury is all set to offer electric variants of all its vehicles till 2022.

China’s Ban on Fossil Fuel Powered Vehicles:

On the weekend, China has announced that it will ban the fossil fuel-powered vehicles very soon. However, the timeline for this ban is yet to be determined. China has been a leading vehicle selling country around the world recently. The sales of vehicles are increasing impressively on the yearly basis. But as the news of the ban on the fossil fuel powered cars has come out, the focus will shift completely towards the electrified cars. France and U.K are other countries who have expressed their plans to phase out the fossil fuel powered vehicles by 2040.
