Spotify just announced reaching the milestone of 70 million subscribers. The news was shared on company’s Twitter account. The last update in this particular regard was shared back in July 2017. At that time the subscriber's count was more than 60 million. So, within around six month time it raised almost 10 million more subscribers.

Active Users

Spotify hasn’t shared any news regarding the active users this time. But these details were shared back in June when the company claimed to have 140 million active users.

Streaming Renegotiation with Sony Music

Spotify was also doing renegotiation on the license deals with Sony Music, Universal Music Group and Warner Group, about the streaming services. The agreement also included the terms of keeping the new music albums off of the streaming service. So, it can be free for a period on the tier. Sooner, Spotify is going public, and it has confidentially filed for an IPO as well.

Spotify’s Competition against Competitors

Increase in the count of the subscribers will solidify the place of Spotify against all its competitors, as far as the size is concerned. The Apple Music announced its subscribers in September 2017. It had 30 million subscribers by then. Tidal, however, hasn’t released any news about its subscribers yet.
