CNN will be flying its own drones over the heads of the crowd. It has just won the license for its commercial drone operations with the FAA. By availing this license it would be able to fly its Vantage Robotic Snap drones at an altitude of 150 feet, over the heads of the crowd in an open-air.The previous exemption of using the drones over crowds was, at max 21 feet height. But that was only allowed for the purpose of filmmaking. But now the exception has increased to 150 feet so that is a big achievement for the CNN.

Why is it a Big Win?

This latest waiver regarding the exception of using the Vantage Robotic Drones was secured through the legal council Hogan Lovells. The Vantage UAV are the super light and quite small robots that could easily hover over the crowd, regardless how much crowd is present there. This certainly has been the biggest win for the company. It also holds importance because previously all the exceptions were approved or disapproved by keeping the worst scenario into consideration.

Why CNN is granted a Waiver?

The CNN has been granted with this waiver because the drones they are going to use are super light. Another reason is the safe and accident free history of the company previously, while using drones on different occasions over the crowd of the people. There were no weak points or reasons, that’s why the CNN has been able to get a waiver for the use of the Vantage Robotic Snap Drones.
