More Personal Data Being Hacked from Equifax than Previously Disclosed

The credit rating agency Equifax announced last year that the hackers had stolen personal information for 143 million US consumers. The data that was stolen included the names, social security numbers, birthdates, driver license numbers, addresses and credit card numbers as well. The information that has been leaked this time is more than previously reported. The information regarding the hacked data was revealed through the document submitted to the Senate Banking Committee. The report revealed that the hackers had hacked more information than the initially reported. It included the tax identification number that is used by a person when he doesn’t have the social security number. Apart from that some email addresses, credit card information and the driver license information was also compromised in the process. Even the state and dates in which all the licenses were issued was also hacked.

According to WSJ, an Equifax spokesperson told that small number of email information was hacked. Apart from that email notifications were sent to those whose credit card information was affected.
