With the completion date of December 1, 2017; Tesla is going to build the world’s largest lithium-ion battery storage for Australia’s Hornsdale Wind Farm. This battery will use the commercial battery storage Powerpack of Tesla. The aim is to deliver 100MW/129MWh, it will be generated from the wind farm during the peak hours and are going to be stored in the batteries to make it available for the Grids.

MAX Capacity:

Around 30,000 houses will be able to use the power at max capacity. The aim of this battery will be to provide power to houses, even in the situations like storm in which the system shutdowns. It will be made to reach and meet the peak demand of electricity for houses. When we look around in the past, Tesla has already been involved in building the large-scale energy storage facility for the Hawaiian island of Kauai. That also was the biggest achievement for them, and now they will work on making the battery system for Australian Hornsdale Wind Farm with maximum storage capacity to meet the demand of power.

South Australian Premier Jay:

The email statement from South Australian Premier Jay about the world’s largest battery storage system was: “Battery storage is the future of our national energy market, and the eyes of the world will be following our leadership in this space,”
