It seems that the Trump administration is focusing on forward and one step back strategy regarding its dispute with China over trades. It is evident from the fact that it has banned Huawei to buy USA technology that forced various technology manufacturers, including Google, to hinder its business relationships with Huawei and other Chinese telecom services providers.
The latest news is that US Department of Commerce and its Bureau of Industry and Security in an unpublished Federal Register has announced that a 90-day general license temporarily basis to use the technology, it has already imported from the US.
However, the reasons that triggered the change in the decision are unknown. However, sceptics are of the view that American jobs might be the significant cause of giving such a relaxation to the Huawei Company.
According to the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation report, restriction over technology export can potentially cause damage of $56.3 billion to the economy of the USA. Not only this, more than 74,000 jobs loss is expected depending on the control scale. So, another primary reason is that Trump’s domestic policy is job centric, and it might lead to a change in the decision.
On the other hand, some experts linking this with the recent visit of Xi Jinping to the rare earth facilities. China has the world’s most abundant resources of rare earth facilities. The country’s government is subtly threatening the USA through its actions to restrict access to the most critical yet precious resource.
Last but not least, a reprieve for a limited time will not change anything because Huawei is sailing in the sea-saw already. But, this relief will give the company a little breathing to mend its ways.
